About TRUTH & TELL

Phantom Fields’ new EP, TRUTH & TELL, is a confession. Cornered under a blinding light, the band professes their unwavering love of guitar-driven indie-alt-rock, acrobatic musicianship, and dynamic songs that face harsh realities. It’s a six-song release that veers down a more-distorted highway, unveiling more of what Phantom Fields fans often experience in the band’s diverse live performances. TRUTH AND TELL will be released across all streaming services- and available on Bandcamp – August 23, 2024.

THE SONGS

Within just a few electric guitar strokes on “Truth & Tell,” the EP’s first cut and first single due July 26, 2024, it’s clear this release will lead us in different sonic directions than the tracks on Phantom Fields’ semi-acoustic debut EP, NOW YOU KNOW. “Truth & Tell’s” driving verses about fatal lies are punctuated with crunchy guitar hits and fall into a spacey void of a bridge that errupts with Bonzo drum fills at a frantic pace through the end.

Kicking with a thick, tribal beat, thick guitars and angelic pedal steel voices, the second track, “How Many Flags,” burns a heavy, alt-country trail across a land obsessed with stripes and colors. Slowing to a sultry groove, next up is “The Road” – where layers of harmonica, vocal harmonies and bluesy guitars create a modern day pep talk encouraging us to just keep moving on. Along a similar vein, “Alright Tonight” proposes we waltz all the way to the inevitable and enjoy the ride while we still can. On track 5, “Make It To Monday,” eery pedal steel, guitar and walking bass paint an eventful weekend that might not ever end. Icing the cake is the 2nd single from the EP (due Aug. 9, 2024), “Creatures,” an up-tempo, guitar-heavy nod to mythic rock and roll habits that invites the audience to meet up out back after the show.

TRUTH & TELL was recorded and engineered with Adam Tucker in 2023 at Signaturetone Recording in Minneapolis.
